The songs named in the directive are ‘Patiala Peg’, ‘5 Taara Theke’, ‘Jeb Vichon Labhya’ and ‘Jatt Uthe Fire Karda Jithe Pabandi Hathiyaran Di’. Officials said the lyrics could have a negative influence on children attending the concert.
On November 6, the District Child Protection Officer issued a letter to the management of C-21 Mall, where the event is scheduled. The communication also referred to a July 22, 2019, order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Copies were sent to the Indore Deputy Commissioner, concerned mall authorities, the Women and Child Development Department and the Vijay Nagar police station.
The complaint was filed by Chandigarh-based professor Dr Panditrao Dharennavar. He sought a complete ban on the four songs, including versions with modified lyrics. He also raised objections to inviting children on stage and Dosanjh wearing bullet-style belts.
According to the directive, children aged five years and above may attend the concert. The complaint also raised concerns about loud music, flashing lights and the possible influence of references to alcohol, drugs and violence on young audiences.
Dosanjh is currently on his Aura India Tour, with the Indore concert scheduled as its second Indian show after Delhi.
