Shankaracharya Criticises Dhirendra Shastri Over Remarks On Lord Krishna

Varanasi: Sumeru Peethadhishwar Shankaracharya Swami Narendraanand Saraswati criticised Dhirendra Shastri during a statement in Varanasi, reacting to his reported remarks comparing Lord Ram and Lord Krishna.

Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Shankaracharya said that anyone who creates a distinction between Lord Krishna and Lord Ram is ignorant and foolish. He strongly objected to comments that compare the two Hindu deities.

The controversy follows a statement attributed to Dhirendra Shastri, in which he reportedly said, “Our Ram is straight, while your Krishna is bent at three places.”

Reacting to the remark, Shankaracharya said that a person who differentiates between Lord Krishna and Lord Ram displays a lack of understanding. His comments were directed at the comparison made in the earlier statement.

The remarks have brought attention to the disagreement between the two religious figures over references to Hindu deities. The available report provides only part of Shankaracharya’s statement and does not include a response from Dhirendra Shastri.
