Schools Closed in 60 Uttar Pradesh Districts on October 30 for PET Exam

Lucknow: Schools up to Class 12 will remain closed on October 30 in 60 districts of Uttar Pradesh due to the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2026. However, teachers and other school staff will be required to report for duty.

Dr S.N. Sabat, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC), confirmed the decision, according to the supplied report. The examination is scheduled to be conducted across 60 districts on Friday.

Approximately 3.5 million candidates have applied for PET 2026, making arrangements necessary at examination centres across the state. To facilitate the examination, the government has directed District Inspectors of Schools (DIOS) and Basic Shiksha Adhikaris (BSA) in the affected districts to declare a holiday for schools.

The closure will apply to schools up to the intermediate level, covering students from primary classes through Class 12. However, the holiday will not extend to teachers and other school employees, who must attend their respective institutions as instructed.

The decision is intended to support the smooth conduct of the large-scale examination and related administrative arrangements. Candidates are expected to follow the instructions issued by the examination authorities regarding their centres and reporting times.

The supplied report did not provide the complete list of the 60 affected districts. Students and parents should check official notices issued by their district education authorities for local instructions.
