Jaipur: Rajasthan is planning to introduce “Sugar Boards” in schools across the state by Diwali to educate children about the sugar content of commonly consumed food and drinks.
The initiative will help students understand how much sugar is present in products such as cold drinks, chocolates and biscuits. Schools will use these displays to explain the information in a simple and practical way.
According to the report, children will also be taught mathematics through activities involving spoons, making learning more interactive while helping them understand sugar quantities.
The campaign will encourage students to make healthier food and drink choices. Instead of cold drinks, children will be taught about the benefits of drinking buttermilk and lemon water. Parents will also be encouraged to pack healthier lunch options, such as apples and guavas, rather than cream biscuits and chocolates.
The proposed Sugar Boards are expected to be installed in all schools across Rajasthan by Diwali. The initiative aims to build awareness among students about sugar consumption and encourage healthier eating habits from an early age.
