Lahore: At least 11 people were killed and 33 others injured after a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck in Pakistan’s Punjab province late at night. The accident occurred in Pakpattan district, where the impact caused the bus to overturn.

The collision left several passengers trapped inside the wreckage, prompting an extensive rescue operation. Police and emergency response teams rushed to the scene after receiving information about the accident.

Rescue workers used cranes and heavy machinery to remove the damaged vehicles and pull trapped passengers to safety. The operation continued for approximately three hours as teams worked to reach those stuck inside the wreckage.

Following the accident, an emergency was declared at the hospital. Additional doctors and medical staff were called in to ensure that all injured passengers received prompt treatment.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expressed grief over the loss of lives and conveyed condolences to the families of those killed. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery and directed the concerned authorities to ensure medical assistance and relief for the victims.

The incident has once again drawn attention to road safety concerns in Pakistan. The report also recalled a bus and van collision in Balochistan last month, in which 12 people reportedly died and around two dozen were injured.
