Rahul Gandhi Announces INDIA Bloc Rally Against SIR on November 1

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced a change in the schedule of the opposition’s “Sansad Across the Road” programme in New Delhi due to rain. The event, originally planned for Friday at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence, will now take place on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Rahul Gandhi said the programme had been postponed because of the weather. He added that opposition leaders would march to Ramlila Maidan the following day.

The “Sansad Across the Road” programme is being organised as a public protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The opposition has described the campaign as a fight to protect the Constitution.

Rahul Gandhi also appealed to political parties, student organisations and members of the public to participate in the planned events.

The INDIA bloc is scheduled to hold its “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1. The rally will focus on opposition concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The announcement comes amid growing political opposition to the SIR exercise and demands for accountability from the Election Commission. The opposition’s planned demonstrations are intended to bring together political parties and civil society groups around these concerns.
