Dehradun: Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal has reportedly apologised to Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi over the phone following a controversy at a public event in Tehri Garhwal. The development was shared in a statement by singer Mika Singh’s team, which welcomed the apology and stressed the importance of respecting artists and their dignity.

According to the statement, Uniyal spoke to Mehndi over the phone and apologised for the incident. Mika Singh’s team expressed hope that the matter would now be resolved and that all parties would move forward with mutual respect.

The controversy began on October 18 during the Kunjapuri Devi fair in Uttarakhand, where Daler Mehndi was performing on stage. Minister Uniyal reportedly arrived during the performance and interrupted the singer. According to the report, the minister alleged that Mehndi was under the influence of intoxicants. A video of the incident subsequently circulated on social media, triggering criticism of the minister’s conduct. The allegation about the singer’s condition has not been independently verified in the supplied report.

Mika Singh, who is Daler Mehndi’s brother, had earlier expressed displeasure over the incident and questioned the treatment of an artist during a public programme. He also sought clarification regarding the allegation made against the singer.

Several entertainment personalities, including Anupam Kher, Kapil Sharma and Rajpal Yadav, reportedly voiced support for Daler Mehndi.

The reported apology has raised hopes that the dispute may now be resolved, although no further details of the phone conversation were provided.
