Paraglider Pilot Stranded in Snowbound Mountains After Himachal Accident

Kullu: A paragliding accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district has left pilot Gautam Kumar Bharti stranded in high-altitude, snow-covered mountains. Police and the local administration have launched a rescue operation to bring him to safety, according to a report published on October 25, 2026.

The incident reportedly involved a paraglider that took off from Bir-Billing. The Kullu control room received information about the situation at around 12:20 a.m. after a man named Varun Singh informed authorities that his friend, Bharti, had become stranded in a mountainous area during the flight.

Bharti is reportedly a resident of Bihar’s Darbhanga district. A key development in the rescue effort is that the teams have established radio contact with the pilot. He also sent GPS coordinates to the control room, helping rescuers identify the area where he is stranded.

However, the rescue operation is proving challenging because of the high altitude, heavy snow and difficult terrain. The weather and geographical conditions have made it difficult for rescue teams to reach the pilot safely.

Authorities are reportedly considering an aerial evacuation by helicopter to bring Bharti out of the remote mountain region. Kullu Police said necessary steps were being taken to ensure his safety.

The next stage of the rescue operation will depend on weather conditions and the accessibility of the location. No confirmation of the pilot’s successful rescue was included in the report, and the operation was described as ongoing at the time of publication.
