According to the supplied report, Laiba aspired to pursue higher education at Harvard. Her family alleged that an individual promised to arrange university admission, a scholarship, and a United States visa in exchange for money. They further claimed that the person provided them with forged documents.
The family reportedly sold land to arrange the money for the promised educational opportunity. However, the alleged promises were not fulfilled, leaving the family facing substantial financial losses.
Laiba’s body was reportedly found on October 9 in a market in Islamabad’s G-10 sector. The circumstances surrounding her death have raised concerns about alleged education fraud and the exploitation of students seeking opportunities to study abroad.
Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with the case. Further investigation is expected to establish the alleged fraud, trace the money involved, and determine whether additional individuals participated in the scheme.
The case highlights the risks faced by students and families who rely on intermediaries offering overseas university admissions, scholarships, and visa assistance. Experts generally advise applicants to verify admission offers directly through official university channels and to avoid transferring large sums to unverified agents.
The allegations against the suspect remain subject to investigation, and further official details are awaited.
