Patiala: Senior Akali leader and former Member of Parliament Professor Prem Singh Chandumajra, along with his son Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra, has rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). The two leaders had earlier left the party and joined the Akali Dal (Revived).

Sukhbir Singh Badal formally welcomed them into the party. The development marks their return to the Badal-led Akali Dal after their recent political association with the revived faction.

According to the report, Sukhbir Singh Badal facilitated their re-entry into the party. The announcement comes amid political developments in Punjab ahead of the next Assembly elections.

Prem Singh Chandumajra is a senior political leader and former MP, while his son Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra has also been active in Punjab politics. Their return brings both leaders back into the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).

The report also states that Sukhbir Singh Chandumajra has said he will not contest the upcoming Assembly elections. His decision means he does not intend to enter the electoral contest as a candidate in the next state polls.

The party has not provided further details in the information shared about their future organisational responsibilities or the circumstances behind the leaders’ return.
