Chandigarh: The Punjab government has announced a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners, benefiting approximately 800,000 people across the state.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the decision in Chandigarh. The revised DA will come into effect with salaries paid in December.
According to the announcement, the increase will provide additional financial relief to employees and pensioners. The Chief Minister stated that the total DA rate after the revision will stand at 53%.
For an employee drawing a basic salary of ₹40,000, a 3% increase will mean an additional ₹1,200 per month, subject to the applicable salary calculation.
The decision covers both serving government employees and pensioners. Around eight lakh beneficiaries are expected to receive the benefit under the revised allowance.
The announcement comes amid continued demands from government employees regarding Dearness Allowance payments. The revised rate will be reflected in the December salary, as stated by the Chief Minister.
